BEACON, the acclaimed platform for dance and multidisciplinary collaboration, returns to the Palladium for its 11th Season – an inspiring evening of bold, original contemporary dance created and performed by some of Tampa Bay’s most innovative artists.
Co-founded and co-produced by St. Petersburg natives, Helen Hansen French and Lauren Slone, this series grew out of their strong desire to provide more opportunities for professional dancers and multidisciplinary artists to create and share high-quality work with the local community. BEACON has become a vital hub for artistic expression, nurturing collaborations and fostering growth within the dance community.
Featuring more than 30 artists across 11 original works – including nine live performances and two dance films – BEACON 2026 brings together both artists new to the series and familiar, beloved performers and choreographers in what promises to be our most dynamic production yet.
The 2026 program includes works by Madison Pineda Bender, Heidi Brewer, Justin Brock, Frank Chaves, Peter Chu, Jhon Destrade Delgado, Helen French, Nicholas Garlo, Alexander Jones + projectALCHEMY, Sarah Walston Philips + ATLAS Modern Ballet, and Lauren Slone.
With a festival-like atmosphere celebrating the vastness of artistry in our community, BEACON 2026 continues to nurture collaboration, foster growth, and provide a professional platform for contemporary dance in St. Petersburg.
ABOUT BEACON
BEACON is an annual contemporary dance series whose mission is to provide a professional dance performance experience specifically for St. Petersburg. BEACON has been an artist in residence at the Palladium since its inception in 2015.
Many BEACON 2026 artists – including Helen French, Lauren Slone, Nicholas Garlo, Alexander Jones (projectALCHEMY), Sarah Walston Philips (ATLAS Modern Ballet), and Madison Pineda Bender – have also participated in the Palladium’s Creative Fellowship program, reflecting the Palladium’s ongoing commitment to supporting local artists in the creation and presentation of new work.
We believe dance, as an embodied art form, is central to any understanding of our place in the world. It is critical for our communities to come together (even one night per year) to celebrate what dance alone has the power to do through BEACON — honor the potential and beauty of every human body.
